Our current Club Ride Schedule is below. All midweek rides are evening starts.
All events are posted in advance via the NTR Spond app – members have access to this app for details of start time & location.
Monday – Gravel / Local Wagonways ride aka ‘Dirtbags’. Approx. 20 miles. Suitable for Gravel/CX Bikes and MTB.
Tuesday – Tuesday Night Training (TNT), our main club road ride of the week. No-Drop ride concentrating on group riding. Should be the start point for new riders to the club. Approx 20 mile loop, starting from the coast/Tynemouth area. Road bikes only (or gravel bikes with road tyres)
Wednesday – Guidepost Trot/Gallop – our summer ride, starting mid-April. A fast (‘drop’) ride, but with defined pace groups and regroup points. Approx. 25 mile route. Minimum 15-16mph average speed. Note this ride is not really suitable for new riders to the club, as group riding experience (pacelines etc) is needed. Road Bikes only for this one.
Thursday – Peters Hills – a local road ride taking in the nearby hills of Royal Quays & North Shields fish quay. Push as hard as you want, with pub stop at end. All abilities welcome. A good second point for new riders after attending Tuesdays.
Saturday – Varied mix of Gravel or Road rides posted – often both offered. Routes will depend on time of year & conditions, but usually 40-60 miles ending with post ride pub stop
Sunday – Sunday Club Ride. Social ride on road bikes – usually around 40-60 miles heading into Northumberland. Pace groups based on expected attendees but usually 15mph average upwards. No Drop ride that always includes a cafe stop. Suitable for Road Bikes / Gravel bike with road tyres fitted.
NOTE: For road rides, expectation is for riders to achieve at least 14mph average across the whole route. This is to ensure safety of the group – ensuring riders keep together.
