“Bees with dirty faces“
The forecast was cold with a wicked headwind but that didn’t deter 28 hardy souls from turning up to the Sunday Club Ride. Those wanting extra winter miles rode from the coast, but plenty of people were happy to make the official start at Havannah nature reserve near the airport.
It was great to see so many people out for a ride and it meant that we could split into small groups based on speed. The ride to Kirkharle was scenic and only mildly undulating. Soon we were greeted with a warm (?) welcome in the cafe and catching up with the events of the ride.
Each group had a leader and the rides are no-drop. This means your group will wait for you if you start to lag behind. Nobody gets left behind on their own.
The gorgeous winter sunshine
Simon Newton’s wrinkly stockings
The slightly clarty single track farm road from Capheaton – definitely worth another go.
Seeing some new and returning faces.
If you fancy trying a Sunday Club Ride you should definitely do it. You’ll be able to ride with a group of like-minded people at a comfortable pace and get to see the highlights of Northumberland. The more people who turn up the easier it is to accommodate everyone’s needs.
Get amongst it.
