Summer H.A.L.T 2019 (Humps and Lumps Training)

Welcome to Summer H.A.L.T! This is the lighter nights version of H.A.L.T. This year we have 2 options both starting from the red arch for the Hadrian’s cycleway in Wallsend.

Option 1: Beamish H.A.L.T, It’s back! We shall cycle as a group to the Bike Hub (loads of free parking if you want to bring the car) on Newcastle quayside for a secondary pick up (6:45) before heading over the swing bridge to the hill cycling paradise of Kibblesworth and either Beamish or Gibside. This is a no drop ride with front and back markers and we regroup at the top of each hill. Everyone climbs hills at different speeds so don’t worry you will be in good company. The ride is approx 30 miles long with 6 climbs covering 2400ft of climbing but it doesn’t feel like it due to the downhill and flat sections between the hills. Depending on numbers we may split in to ability groups. Don’t forget to bring some money for the post ride social debrief at The River Brew co beside the swing bridge!!

Option 2: The normal winter route will be continued throughout the summer as an trial extra option, this is approximately 19 miles long with around 1400ft of climbing finishing at the Exchange for a well earned de brief!

**LIGHTS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THIS RIDE**

If the weather is not behaving itself we shall revert to the local Wallsend to North Shields H.A.L.T route for that night. Plenty of notice will be given in advance if this is the case.

Please do indicate on our Club Facebook page that you are intending on going to a ride, or not if your circumstances change. The Facebook event will also be used to communicate to riders any other important information, such as weather updates or the need to cancel.
